It was a busy March morning as I flew into San Diego with a small case of sadness, thinking I’d never find a couple available on a weekday to travel into Yucca Valley for a cactus-filled session in the iconic Joshua Tree National Park. Thats where these two come in, well, sorta. I may have stolen their contact info from someone else’s post looking for a couple to photograph, but hey, all’s fair in love and war.. or something like that. They were fellow photographers with obvious perfect chemistry, so I decided right then and there it was going DOWN. Sent that good juju out into the world and waited for a reply.
Tyler and Dan landed back in my inbox with a big ‘ol metaphorical check mark and it all fell into place. After traveling about 3 hours to the park we landed at the stunning Challa Cactus Garden (where I got major feels at all the cute baby cacti, until one liked me a little too much and stabbed me in the ankle. Tyler braved used two flat rocks as forceps to pull that sucker out..ouch) and then back up the road to a nearby rock stack for a finale as the sun dipped behind desert mountains. I loved watching these two interact in-between shots, as Dan sweetly tucked Tyler’s hair back into place and she’d give him a sweet smile in appreciation. They were married just last year and it’s clear marital bliss suites them well.
I’ve dreamt about hosting this session for years, so I’m beaming being able to share it with you all.
New creative friends and beautiful memories locked in a photograph, what could be better?
